HIGHLY SKILLED PODCAST EDITORS ARE IN HIGH DEMAND

BUT THE PATH TO BECOMING ONE IS NOT STRAIGHTFORWARD...

FORMAL EDUCATION VS. DIY LEARNING

If you want to learn editing skills and work as a podcast editor, you have two choices: costly formal education or self-taught DIY methods via YouTube.

College degrees demand heavy investment without guaranteeing real-world readiness, while DIY learning offers only a superficial understanding, leaving many unprepared for professional challenges.

These two choices also lack the marketing and sales skills needed to build a thriving business online.

Podcast EditLab bridges educational gaps with focused, practical training and business skills, turning you into a sought-after editor constantly booked with fun projects and top clients.

In Week 1, we kick-start your podcast editing journey. We start with the core—audio basics and formats. Then, we dig into essential software and equipment. We end the week by guiding you to set up a soundproof studio. By week's end, you'll master the podcast editing fundamentals and your workspace will be ready for action.

Week 2: ✂️Editing Essentials: Mastering the Basics

In Week 2, we're tackling editing essentials. We start by defining the role of a podcast editor and their workflow. Then, we move onto basic audio editing techniques—trimming, cutting, arranging audio, and adjusting volume and fades. We finish the week with an intro to sound design and music, where you'll learn how to source and incorporate royalty-free assets. By week's end, you'll have a solid grasp of podcast editing basics.

Week 3: ⏭️ Editing Mastery: Next-Level Techniques

Week 3 is all about stepping up your game with advanced techniques. We start by exploring ways to enhance audio quality, tackling noise reduction, cleanup, EQ, compression, and limiting. Next, we level up on sound design, diving into creative ways of adding music and sound effects and controlling atmosphere and pacing. We wrap up the week by turbocharging your workflow with keyboard shortcuts, macros, and efficient editing strategies. By the end of Week 3, you'll be on your way to becoming an editing pro.

Week 4:🎯 Editing in Action: From Practice to Precision

In week 4, you'll take your learning to the next level by editing a real podcast episode using techniques you've learned. You'll then participate in feedback sessions and peer review, learning to give and receive constructive criticism. Lastly, you'll gain skills in estimating project timeframes and managing your time effectively, which you'll need to meet those deadlines.

Week 5: 💼 Business Blueprint: Building Your Podcast Editing Business

In week 5, We'll guide you through choosing a suitable business structure and navigating the necessities of registering your business and handling taxes. By week's end, you'll be armed to market your services and attract clients effectively.

Week 7: 🗣️ Client Connection: Onboarding, Negotiating, and Satisfaction

In Week 7, we dive into mastering client collaboration. We'll learn how to onboard clients with a compelling welcome packet and effective project management tools. Wrapping up, we'll focus on ensuring client satisfaction by proof listening, implementing feedback, and building long-term relationships.

Week 8: ⚡ Advanced Editing and Time Management: Mastering Complex Episodes

In Week 8, we venture into advanced editing and time management for complex episodes. You'll tackle unique editing scenarios, fine-tune sophisticated techniques, enhance your feedback and review process, and perfect your project timing. By week's end, you'll be skilled at handling complicated edits and balancing tight deadlines.

Week 9: 💰 Pricing, Packages, and Business Growth

Week 9 centers on the financial and growth aspects of your podcast editing business. You'll learn to price your services competitively and package them attractively. You'll also learn about broadening your service range, exploring different niches, and hiring assistance to help you position your business for growth.

🎓 This is what our first cohort of certified editors had to say about their experience 🗣️

Jill

What was your overall experience with Podcast EditLab?

Do you have a word limit on these answers? OK, my overall experience was incredible. Both Veronica and Stephen were extremely supportive and excellent instructors. When I got overwhelmed they listened and then proceeded to show me how much I had learned and grown in my skillset. I really appreciated how they broke the learning modules into "doable" chunks. Giving us plenty of resources to work with and I know they are invested in my success as a podcast editor.

Stacey

What was your overall experience with Podcast EditLab?

It blew me out of the water and I don’t say that lightly. I had to kiss a lot of frogs before finding your course. The price tag told me it was going to be good and it’s also the reason I had high expectations (which it far exceeded). I didn’t anticipate how advanced the editing and theory would get but I’m really happy it went there because I’d been wishing to find someone who could teach me those next-level skills. The other equally awesome outcome is that I have a fully functioning website WITH all that sexy marketing and sales copy. Thank you, Veronica! And a gorgeous portfolio. And a polished proposal. You (meaning Stephen and Veronica) not only thought of all the things I’d need to start offering podcast editing services but each module was well crafted and easy to follow. You answered all my questions, listened to our thoughts and ideas, and even went out of your way to make special lessons based on different skills or techniques we wanted to learn.

Meet Your Instructors 🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏽‍♀️

Hey there, I'm Stephen (AKA Studio Steve)

I've got your Back. Let's do This!

I'll be your guide through all the tech and creative aspects of podcast editing inside our program, Podcast EditLab.

I'm an audio engineer by trade, but that's my day job. Off the clock? I'm an audio nerd!

My fascination with sound started way back when I was just a seven-year-old, finding joy in the hums and buzzes of my parents' VCRs and CD players rather than playground games or Saturday morning cartoons. Instead of simply watching movies or listening to music, I was more interested in creating my own mixes - a passion that has stuck with me to this day.

Throughout my life, I've immersed myself in all things audio:

Jamming in rock bands, earning my stripes in a Hollywood recording studio, and even running my own recording studio. But things took a fascinating turn when the world of podcasting came knocking on my door. Suddenly, I was granted the autonomy to manage my own workflow, pick and choose the projects that truly resonated with me, and, most importantly, establish my own online business centered around podcast production and editing.

Now, my mission is two-fold.

I aim to teach you the best editing techniques I’ve accumulated over the years to fast-track your transformation into an outstanding podcast editor.

And two, I want to show you how to turn your newfound skills into a sustainable, fulfilling career - something that no one taught me in school and something I had to learn the hard way.

So here we are, ready to embark on this audio journey together. I'm excited to share all my experience, the lessons I've learned, and my passion for audio with you.

Hola Amigo! I'm Veronica ( I don't have a cool AKA)

I'll be your marketing and business development instructor at Podcast EditLab.

I am a Colombian powerhouse who pivoted from being an attorney working in the corporate world to launching my own business and building a brand online my brand online with Pod Sound School.

You might wonder, why the shift?

Well, just like many of you, I was done with the grind of devoting my precious time to someone else's dream.

What I truly yearned for was independence, the freedom to travel back to my beloved Colombia whenever my heart desired, and the privilege to be there for all the little moments in my kids' lives — school drop-offs, pick-ups, performances, and sports practices.

Marketing and I are your new Besties!

Soon into my journey as an entrepreneur, I realized the importance of building a presence online and having an efficient but manageable marketing plan to attract clients to our thriving business.

Over the years, I've helped my amazing and talented clients and students to build their brands and business online, aiding them in turning their passion for podcasting into a profitable venture.

I want to do the same for you!

The online world can be intimidating, and finding the right strategies for growth might seem daunting.

Also, being a great podcast editor goes beyond just technical abilities. To build a successful career or business in podcasting, you also need to master the art of marketing yourself and your skills. Clients will not come knocking on your door or clutter your inbox magically.

But don’t you worry! Together we’ll build a marketing strategy that’s easy to implement and effective at attracting your dream clients.

So let's get this ball rolling.

Que le aga bomba la camisa papito! 😂

( Translation: "Let your shirt puff up." This Colombian expression is used metaphorically to convey a sense of urgency or to encourage someone to hurry up.)
